so far, kasper wasn't sure if it was some sort of loyalty to rocket, fear, or stupidity that made them wait outside their apartment. so far, though, they did know one thing, and it was thatthey were actually going to die of boredom.

it had taken maybe five seconds for them to sit down on the ground just in front of their apartment door, and it had taken half that time for them to pull up some mindless, screen-tapping game on their phone. it had taken a fraction of that time for them to get bored of it, but they still sat on it, because it passed the time better thaan anything else.

now they just had to wait for-

oh, shit. they didn't know who they were waiting for, actually, and they hadn't given their exact apartment.

They had neglected to mention, however, that 'Beast Quinn' hadn't told Kasper whose number they'd texted, and to whom they'd disclosed the location of an undocumented Shadow Pokémon.[break][break]

Nor had they given their apartment number, yet Cillian finds them all the same. Impatient as Kasper was, they would not be left waiting long before the elevator doors slide open to reveal-[break][break]

Well, for a moment he look like any other man going about his day, until his Zorua's ILLUSION drops and Rocket's underboss is revealed to be striding purposefully down the hall toward Kasper.[break][break]

the elevator doors slide open, and- kasper is pretty sure they've never seen this man in their life, but they don't give it a second thought. he's probably some neighbor that's either just moved in or that has had a conflicting schedule up until now. it's fine. they return their attention back to their phone, just for a second-

until he stops. and when kasper looks up this time, they freeze. the man is not just a neighbor, and apparently not even real, because in his place stands one of their higher ups, just as intimidating as ever. the game on their phone, gone completely ignored now, makes a little sad noise as their character plummets to their death.

"uh." clever response aside, they pluck the pokeball from where it was resting and offer it to their superior. "be careful. he's kind of-" they gesture, vaguely, still feeling like they're waiting for their life to flash before their eyes. wait. fuck. had even mentioning the shadow pokemon's temperament come off as some sort of insult?

looking for some sort of savior, it comes in the form of their phone, just for a second, and the way they angle it so that cillian can't see the way they start composing a text of what the fuck you're actually the worst to Tempest Quinn. it's left unsent, though.

"A Shadow Pokemon," Cillian finishes. Not what Kasper was going to say, undoubtedly, but it's all Cillian needs to know.[break][break]

Without fanfare, he presses the button to release the beast.

if kasper hadn't been sitting against their door, they may have winced a little with the pokeball snatched out of their hand. as it is, they do drop their gaze, as if hoping their phone would light up or somehow teleport them away from their (honestly terrifying as fuck) superior.

it maybe gives them a little confidence- or not, honestly, considering they're a rambler- to not shut up despite the look that would have killed if cillian had been capable of it. "yeah. that."

at least, this time, they know better not to continue, and keep their head down, trying to figure out the logistics of texting death threats to someone while his weird monster husband was right there. probably not a good idea, but it was tempting.

their rescue- or not- comes in the form of the lycanroc being released. immediately, he wheels around, with the beginning of a snarl- just to stop, like nothing had ever happened. or maybe, like kasper, he was absolutely terrified of the man in front of him.
